Faculty - Dr. Sameer Sheorey
PhD - University of Maryland
Research Assistant Professor
Sameer Sheorey (previously Sameer Shirdhonkar) received his Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay in 2003 and Masters degree in Computer Science from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2006. He expects to receive his PhD degree from Maryland in 2008 prior to joining TTI.
His research interests are mainly in computer vision, machine learning and applied mathematics. His thesis includes applications of harmonic analysis techniques, including Fourier and wavelet theory, to problems in computer vision involving lighting and image comparison. He has also worked on a system for recognition of plant species using leaf images. In the future, he plans to continue investigating different aspects of object recognition and study applications of harmonic analysis to machine learning.
Dr. Sheorey also has a personally maintained website which can be found at http://www.ttic.edu/sheorey
