As leaders of a U.S. academic institution we are deeply troubled by the recent executive order banning travel to the United States by nationals of seven predominantly Muslim nations. This ban has an immediate impact on our students and faculty. Removing talented people from our institution reduces our ability to serve our mission of education and research. The ban similarly undermines the entire U.S. academic and technology communities.

We understand that global terrorism is a legitimate concern. However, this order appears to have been done in haste and without careful consideration of global anti-American sentiments, harm done to allies in the fight against terrorism, and the loss of valuable scientists and engineers from our universities and technology companies.

Under these difficult circumstances, TTI-Chicago will do whatever is possible to support its affected students, staff and faculty.
