Dr. Filip Hanzely

Research Assistant Professor

Filip Hanzely received his PhD degree in Applied Mathematics and Computational Science from KAUST in 2020. Prior to that, he received a BSc degree from Comenius University in 2016 and an MSc degree from the University of Edinburgh in 2017. He joined TTIC in December 2020 as a Research Assistant Professor.

His research focuses mostly on various aspects of stochastic optimization for machine learning, designing provably efficient algorithms for solving big data problems. Filip is also interested in related topics such as federated learning, distributed optimization, optimization for deep learning, higher-order methods, and others.

Dr. Hanzely also has a personally maintained website which can be found at http://www.ttic.edu/hanzley.
